Questions and answers
Quick guidance on tariff options, transponders, trips, and other common situations.

01The app does not open or keeps loading. What should I do?
My WHSD retrieves data from the same WHSD servers that power the official web account. Those servers may be unavailable outside Russia or through foreign VPNs, and they can occasionally be unreachable within Russia because of network restrictions or WHSD infrastructure outages.
You can quickly check whether the app is at fault by opening the official WHSD web account. If that does not load either, My WHSD cannot retrieve your data until access to the servers is restored.
- Disable a foreign VPN or try another network.
- Check whether the official WHSD web account opens.
- If you urgently need to top up the account, use the separate payment page. It often remains available when the web account is not.
- Alternatively, top up through a supported banking app using the transponder number.
02Can the app steal a user’s money or data?
No. My WHSD does not send the app’s author usernames, passwords, balances, payment amounts, or other account data. Authentication data is stored only on the user’s device, while account information is requested directly from WHSD servers.
Every payment-related action takes place in the browser on the official WHSD website or a payment gateway page. The app does not receive or process bank card details: it displays information returned by WHSD and creates links that then open in the browser.
In earlier versions, some pages opened inside the app using a WebView — an embedded window that made the official website look like part of the app. This was removed for transparency and security. Opening an external browser adds a small extra step, but users can always see exactly where they are and which site is handling the action.
Before entering any information, you can always check the browser address bar to see which site is open. If the address looks suspicious, close the page and start the payment directly from the official WHSD website.
03Why does WHSD call the app “pirated”?
The author smiles every time he hears this. Pirates usually steal or take something away, while My WHSD takes nothing from WHSD. The author sincerely believes that creating is better than destroying, which is why he has spent years developing an independent app for the benefit of its users.
The author contacted WHSD several times and offered to let the operator acquire the app, but the offers were declined. Apparently, the software-development budgets are not quite right — or perhaps they are exactly right :)
Over the years, My WHSD has become more than just code: it is part of the author’s life and personal brand.
04How did the author build the app without working with WHSD?
Quite simply: in much the same way that one can observe how a website communicates with its server. A mobile app is neither an enigma nor a black box.
A professional developer can examine the requests and responses exchanged by a client app and its server on the developer’s own device, understand the protocol, and reproduce the required interaction. This does not require access to WHSD’s internal source code or private systems: client-side data exchange is available for technical analysis.
Article 1280 of the Russian Civil Code expressly allows a lawful owner of a program copy to study, examine, or test how it works. Subject to the stated conditions, the law even permits the necessary parts to be decompiled without the copyright holder’s consent or additional payment so that an independently developed program can interact with other software.
05How do I activate a 30-day pass or tariff option?
A tariff option is linked to a specific transponder and activates the following day. Your account balance must cover the full option price. If it does not, top up the account: the activation request remains pending for up to 14 days before it is cancelled.
- Open the relevant account in My WHSD.
- Select the transponder.
- Choose and activate the tariff option.
06How do I dispute a trip?
Wait at least one day after the trip before starting a dispute because WHSD needs time to process the transaction. The amount is often recalculated automatically during that time.
In the current version of My WHSD, open the trip and choose the dispute action. You can also submit a request through the WHSD web account.
07How do I activate a new transponder?
You will need the PAN and SN printed on the transponder or included with its documents. Where you press the + button determines how it is added.
- On the home screen, press + in the top-right corner. The app will create a new account and add the transponder to it.
- To link the transponder to an existing account, open that account and press + next to the Transponders section.
- Enter the transponder PAN and SN.
You can also activate a new transponder or link it to an existing account through the WHSD web account.
08How do I withdraw the remaining transponder balance?
The WHSD operator refunds the remaining balance after the account agreement is terminated and the owner submits an application. Visit a customer service office or ask whether you can apply remotely through the web account feedback form.
09How do I use a WHSD transponder on other toll roads?
Interoperability — transponder roaming — must be enabled to use the device on other toll roads, including Avtodor routes. Without it, passage may be denied. Check its status in My WHSD, Your WHSD 2.0, or the WHSD web account.
Transponders activated on or after March 18, 2025 must be personalised at the WHSD office on Planernaya Street. Bring your passport, the transponder, and the phone linked to it.
10Vitebsk Interchange: why did I receive a fine and what should I do?
The Vitebsk Interchange uses barrier-free tolling. A debt may appear if the transponder was not detected, the account had insufficient funds, or a licence-plate trip was not paid.
- Check charges using the vehicle registration number.
- Pay the toll within 5 days of the trip.
- If a fine has already been issued, the official WHSD site allows another 20 days to pay the toll itself; the order and fine are then cancelled.
Rules and fine amounts may change. Check the current information on the official WHSD site.
11How do I freeze or block a transponder?
Temporary blocking helps prevent accidental charges — for example, when the transponder remains in the car but you do not want it to activate during a trip. It does not pause active 30-day tariff options.
- In My WHSD on iOS, choose Freeze.
- In Your WHSD 2.0 on iOS or Android, choose Block transponder.
- Alternatively, call WHSD support and provide the passport details linked to the account.
